Interlecta Announce Partnership with AirTel
The mobile translator Interlecta released for the market in India is called Interlecta Translator and will be available only for clients of the largest wireless carrier in the country AirTel. After the negotiations that Interlecta and AirTel lead, they agreed that the new translation software would be offered for free download and activation for a limited period of time and for clients of AirTel only. A yearly subscription fee will be required for users who download after this limited time offer.
The new Interlecta Translator for AirTel can be downloaded only from the leaders in mobile software distribution Cellmania by visiting http://airtel.cellmania.com and searching for “translate”. Should any difficulties with the Internet settings of the cell phone occur, AirTel customer support should be contacted to resolve the issue.
Up till now Interlecta's efforts were focused mainly on developing translation software for BlackBerry and this new partnership with AirTel in India can be considered a start of a new development and marketing campaign orientated to Java/J2ME based handsets. Interlecta Translator developed for AirTel and released on Cellmania is compatible with the latter platform and translates text typed on the handset's screen. Another functionality of the application is that the translated text can be sent as a short text message (SMS) in or outside the network of AirTel.
Some of the new languages that have been added for AirTel clients in India are Africaans, Belorussian, Galilean, Yiddish, Irish, Icelandic, Macedonian, Malay, Farsi, Swahili, Tagalog, and Welsh (Cymraeg). New more functional applications by Interlecta are yet to come on Cellmania.
